What Our Programs Offer
 
Our programs comprise basic modules and specialised chronic care management. The program is available for anyone who needs to acquire caregiving skills.

 

Program Objectives

 

  • To improve individual’s competencies in delivering community and/or home-based care for PNCs (Persons Needing Care).
  • Building enhanced awareness and support through timely care and skills.
  • Promote healthier and happier psychological and emotional support for PNCs and their caregivers.

 

Competency Assessment

 

All trainees will undergo modular practical examinations marked against professional practices and standards through an interactive 1-on-1 Competency Assessments. The modular assessments will be evaluated on individual competency levels against skills and knowledge acquired during the course. The Competency Assessment will be conducted by an independent assessor through oral and practicum.

 

Program Delivery Methodology
 
Our courses are designed to equip trainees with the competencies and knowledge to deliver quality patient care proficiently through relevant skills application and patient’s needs basis. It will be conducted with strong emphasis on practical hands-on under simulated learning environments and these will be enhanced through theoretical teachings.

 

Program Developers & Facilitators
 
Our courses are designed by professional, experienced healthcare practitioners and educators who have accumulated more than 10 years of work experience in acute, tertiary healthcare settings. Each facilitator is specialised in their respective area of expertise, including but not limited to geriatric, general, specialised intensive care for acute & chronic patients.  Each of them is actively involved in health awareness education, talks and training for Caregivers and professionals.

 

Caregivers Training Grant (CTG)

 

Participants of our caregiver training courses can apply for the Caregivers Training Grant if they meet the following criteria:
  1. Caregiver is a family member and is Singaporean or Permanent Resident, OR a Foreign Domestic Worker/maid working for the household
  2. The Person Needing Care (PNC) is Singaporean or Permament Resident aged 65 years or older OR below 65 years old but has difficulty in activities of daily living:
  • Personal hygiene and grooming
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Self-feeding
  • Functional transfers (getting into and out of bed or wheelchair, getting onto or off toilet, etc.)
  • Bowel and bladder management
  • Ambulation (walking with or without use of an assistive device (walker, cane, or crutches) or using a wheelchair)
